    I wondered the same, but some quick research suggests that this is the first year he was depicted on a Topps Card So “rc” may reflect rookie card but not necessarily rookie season.

    rookie season was 1977, and this card is a 1981.

    I kind if get it They dont make a card for each player on team, so a couple of years might go by before they say hey this guy is legit lets do a card.
